The range radiant heat element supplies the heat to a cooking area on top of the glass cooktop range. It functions similarly to a traditional element but is mounted under the glass cooktop surface. Your radiant heat element might have to be replaced if it does not heat when energized by the control or the coils or terminals are damaged. This is the quietest range hood I have ever used with an unique design. The installation is straight forward for most with video tutorial online that's readily available. I went with a professional installation. This range hood is rated at 1100cfm and the unique design has worked very well. My home no longer smells even when I deep fry. I did two modifications for my installation. I went with a Zephyr 6"-8" duct increaser. The reason I did this is because the range hood is rated over 1000cfm. This might not be necessary but it's a choice I made for myself because of the rated CFM. My installation required a 4" spacer piece. I used 6" 10-32 fine thread screws to secure my upper cabinet to the range hood to make up the 4" spacer difference. This is not necessary according to Fotile but I went the extra mile for $13 more in screws, bolts, and washers. So far I am very satisfied with how quiet and powerful it is. Glass cooktops use a thermal limiter switch to protect against overheating by shutting down power to the element should it become too hot. When the limiter on these elements fails it will usually totally prevent the element from heating and the element needs to be replaced. If this is happening to your glass cooktop, the dual radiant heat element is an exact replacement for the Electrolux part with the same number.
