The rug is thick enough and soft enough to not need a pad under it. I haven’t walked on it barefoot, but with socks, it feels nice (not scratchy and pokey). I have no constructive criticism. I like this rug a lot. But it is REALLY tough for my (Dyson) vacuum. The fuzz is crazy and I have to empty it immediately after going over the rug once. Also, because it’s very thick, my cat’s nails are doing damage. It’s weird that I’ve had much less expensive rugs that my cat has not been able to damage at all. The rug is thick enough and soft enough to not need a pad under it. I haven’t walked on it barefoot, but with socks, it feels nice (not scratchy and pokey). I have no constructive criticism.
