Very impressed by the design of this trash can. It doesn’t have one of those unnecessary inner liners most cans seem to have, which is a huge plus for me. If a bag leaks with this one all you have to do is take off the top containing the opening mechanism and rinse out the bottom before replacing the top. Simple. It’s all made of some pretty thick plastic, so it feels quite substantial and solid. The opening mechanism works perfectly but, of course, the true test is how long it lasts. We’ll see. I also wanted it to be made of plastic because the stainless steel models are so easy to dent, and then what can you do? No worries here. I’m actually coming from a 20-year-old Rubbermaid unit with a little swinging door, so I’m making quite a jump in quality and technology here. It’s about time. Wish me luck! ;-). David. Reno. The trash can arrive on time so far . So good, it wasnt really what I expected. I thought we would be able to just put our feet in front of the sensor and it would open but you do have to step on the paddle to open it. But like I said , so far , so good. This trash can is exactly what we needed. It’s small and fits perfectly in the space we wanted to put it. It looks nice and doesn’t stick out and detract from the rest of our kitchen. This is my first hands free/foot free opening trash can. It opens quickly and the lid does not slam against the cabinet/wall behind it, it also closes quickly. Looks pretty good and was very easy to set up. Doesn’t come with batteries, that was a bit annoying. Reasons for not giving a 5 it’s not as smart as other trash cans I’ve used where if you open it and it senses that you’re still emptying something, it will stay open. This one just closes after the number of seconds, on top of your hands. You can keep it open but you have to push the Open thing and then it doesn’t close automatically, you have to push Close to close it.
