I have been searching for months for the perfect vanity chair for our newly-remodeled master bathroom. The design elements were just as important as functionality to me in this space. As our counter is shaving height (with the vanity just a few inches lower), a standard height seat was too short; I needed one that had adjustable height features that didn't scream "office chair." This Matthias Task Chair is just what I needed. Without arm rests, it pushes in almost flush with the counter so that there's still ample room to walk between the tub and the chair. I like that it has casters so that I'm not sliding wood or metal across my new tile floor. And, I wanted something in blue and chrome, which was not easy to find. I do wish it were a tad bit deeper in the seat, but I'm only in it for about 20-minutes max per day to put on make-up; comfort was not my priority. First chair was a lot easier to assemble but the second one wasn’t lining up well so there was a big gap in the back base so not sure how sturdy it will be. Eventually over time and lots of strength and force, I was able to close the gap but it’s definitely not as aligned as the other chair. I picked this chair mainly because of the higher weight capacity — I’m a bigger guy, so that was a big factor for me. A lot of chairs look good online but feel sketchy once you actually sit on them. This one is not like that. Right away, it feels sturdy. The base is solid, it doesn’t wobble, and you don’t get that feeling like it’s going to give out after a few months. The seat is comfortable and wide enough where you’re not squeezed in, which is something I always look for. It’s also got a clean look, which was a nice bonus. Doesn’t look like a bulky “heavy-duty” chair, so it fits well in the room without looking out of place. Assembly was easy, nothing complicated. Rolls smooth, adjusts fine, and just works the way you expect it to. If I had to say anything, it’s not one of those super ergonomic chairs with crazy lumbar adjustments, but for everyday use it’s comfortable and gets the job done.
