We took a road trip from PA to SC last week, and I followed the pre chilling suggestions (set both sections to -4° for a minimum of 3-4 hours before filling) from the reviews.. I adjusted one section to 34° after I filled the refrigerated food while leaving the the frozen food set to -4°. I did add a few freezer blocks to the tops of both sections before we closed the lids. On the trip down we stayed overnight in a hotel halfway to SC.. To my delight our food was in perfect condition when we unpacked it!! The little features like side shelves, internal shelves for making drinks, bottle opener etc are fantastic! I also really loved the ability to split the cooler in half with a divider panel. It allowed me to organize which drinks were kid friendly and which were not. The design is modern and it was very easy to assemble. My only critique is everyone who approached this initially was confused on how to open it (center front there are two indentations near the middle for your fingers to lift the top covers) and kept ripping the front bar off. I love the metal cooler from Foster and Rye! It’s first outing, I used it to hold snacks on a ten-hour round trip car trip with an overnight stay. The lid seals tightly when locked into place making sure the cold stays inside. When I got home, I still had quite a bit of ice left. I was impressed. In addition to keeping things cool, it looks much more stylish than most of the other coolers out there. It’s a nice solid metal in a deep shade of midnight blue. The outside has a built-in bottle opener on one end, which is perfect for bringing adult beverages to a picnic, the beach, or that weekend of never-ending children’s soccer games.
