The rug is not too thin, we would never use this rug without a rug pad since we have straight linoleum to concrete below. Definitely need a rug pad. The 7x9 is what we purchased and I think it fits the room well with our smaller couch. The rug shipped relatively fast and was delivered well. Takes about 3 days to fully flatten.
