We can see them any time we want but they have a nice dark hideout just in case they need it. I don’t think the access to the hideout is a big deal. If you absolutely need to grab one you can pull out the tray some. Our piggies loved their new home and I also love the peace of mind it gives me knowing they aren’t in a wire cage anymore where my dogs could accidentally get too rough and break them out lol I definitely would recommend this cage. Received this item and it is amazingly large and heavy. The bass alone is well made and I'm actually waiting for my stand to show up before I put it all together because just the bass is heavy to the point there's no way to assemble it and not have it in place. There's a lot of heavy foam surrounding the base and the glass walls come in a separate wrap box. Even with several sections of foam broken everything was intact as far as the base and the glass sheets wrapped separately. The price was on the Hefty side but after receiving the Box and taking everything out know that it seems to be worth it. The top vent has a locking system to keep it in place and is well constructed and not just screen which is exactly the way the side vents are made as well.
