This Murphy Bed comes in several heavy boxes with a lot of pieces. So it's definitely my recommendation to hire a professional to put it together to save you time and to ensure the product is assembled properly with anchoring to the wall for security. I must say it came together beautifully and will fit our needs for additional modern style storage and sleep space when we have overnight guests. The material is somewhat sturdy manufactured wood which is only noticeable up close. The frame will definitely only fit a 10 inch mattress or less. We tried a 12 in and the main door will not close. As many have mentioned, it would have been great to have shelves inside the cabinet but if you're handy you can easily install some for more storage. I have been shopping around for a quality Murphy bed for quite some time and almost bought a $4000 model but I'm glad I was able to save once I found this one for a fraction of the cost. I really like the Murphy bed it was delivered on time and was in almost perfect condition. The item had one minor scratch, and it was easy to paint over. Assembly took ~6 person hours with a couple of mistakes that required taking some pieces apart and reassembling. Multiple pieces were not labeled with numbers and the instructions were somewhat difficult to follow. This piece is very sturdy but note that it weighs ~240 lbs in total. Converting it from a cabinet to a bed is definitely a 2 person operation as the top is quite heavy. A 6" trifold mattress just barely fits - it makes it hard to use the latch and puts pressure on the front panel such that it slightly bends outwards. Be careful- this is a FULL sized bed, not a QUEEN. The search/ filter did not filter it out and caused confusion . I’m not rating the product as I didn’t open it upon realizing it was not a queen sized bed. But having called customer service to start the return, I wanted to acknowledge how quick and easy they made the return of the three huge, heavy boxes. Very solid piece of furniture. Assembly directions were easy to follow. Took approximately two hours to assemble with two people. This Murphy bed is very nice. Assembly wasn’t too hard for a grandma just shy of 70. You would be better off with 2 people, the chest is heavy. It looks really nice. I’m very satisfied with it. I ordered this bed as extra sleeping space at our cottage. Its what we were looking for and was a good choice for us. The cabinet took 2 people about 4 hours to assemble. The directions were pretty straightforward however, you need to be cognizant of what it should look like once fully assembled. We had to reverse a couple of boards that werent diagramed in the directions.The mattress that was included is pretty thin. We ordered a thicker, firmer replacement since adults would be using this bed. There were a couple of flaws where the laminate strip on 2 end boards wasnt flat and needed to be fixed. Wayfair handled that to our satisfaction. I gave it 4 stars because of the mattress and laminate issues and a few cosmetic flaws. For the price, ordering this cabinet was a good decision.. Mary. This is stellar! My husband and I took our time putting this together, we wanted to make sure it turned out really well. We split it up into 2 days, also if you have two drills, itll probably be quicker lol. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I do recommend having a second person around, some of the pieces are bigger and you just need an extra set of hands. One reviewer mentioned building it in the room its supposed to go in, and I second that notion. Its a great bed, and sturdy. I love this thing and it doesnt take up too much space.
