There are some good features to this air conditioner. It is lightweight and easy to carry and install into the window. It has several modes and the lowest setting makes very little noise. The "quiet" setting is very quiet. It doesn't give the cold cooling feeling that old air conditioners do and feels more like a central air conditioning system. My windows are non standard wide so I had to adjust the installation recommendations. This is a fantastic portable AC! It works exceptionally well and I love its features, like how the vents move in opposite directions for maximum breeze and how the temperature display is also a thermostat. Portable is debatable, because it weighs 70 lbs. I am not strong, and I thought I would need to hire someone to help my husband get it up 2 flights of stairs. But then I cut out two holes near the top of the box to use as handholds and that provided all the extra help I needed. After it was delivered, I let it sit there for a couple of days and then I did not turn on the AC for another two days after dragging it up the stairs. The only problem was mine, because the window frame is 26 inches wide and the panel where the hose attaches and feeds out is almost 27 inches. I had to measure the excess and use a small hacksaw to saw off the tiny bit of excess plastic. Luckily this was not particularly difficult! Chills well! I'm using it to cool about 700sq ft and we are COMFORTABLE! I keep my indoor temp 76-78F in the summer usually but my old unit was dying out, so I replaced it with this one. It's a very hot climate here, and this unit is having NO trouble maintaining 76F in here while it's been 94-97F. It's maintaining 74 in the 270 sq ft around it easily. If my space wasn't segmented by a doorway, I believe it would maintain about 74F in this amount of space (again, about 700sq ft).. just for knowledge to anyone considering buying this unit. It's easy to install, very easy. Just be warned that if you have a window sill on the window you'll be installing it in, you'll need to get foam weather strip (wide/thick) to put beneath the window insert and thinner foam (the type with adhesive) to put on top of the install (between window insert and window). Even if you have no window sill, I still recommend the thinner weatherstrip (type with adhesive) on top of the window insert to seal out drafts. ONE COMPLAINT: There is not a strong enough connection between the duct tip and the insert. You WILL need to find a way to reinforce it or it WILL disconnect after you install and try to even just slightly move the unit. I suggest just gluing it with your choice of adhesive after plugging the duct tip into the window insert. IT HAS LATCHES BUT THEY ARE INSUFFICIENT. Overall great unit with a lot of features!. Jay. It is recommended that you wait 24 hours to turn your unit on after it arrives. I went against that recommendation because it was absolutely sweltering in my studio space that had nothing but a fan. I purchased two of these bad boys to cover 1030 ft.² of open space with 18ft ceilings. I met FedEx AT THE DOOR! And they brought them in for me and set each unit at each window I wanted them to be placed. So delivery was smooth and easy. The installation instructions were easy to understand and the units took no more than 10 minutes each to be installed. NOTE: you will need some weather tape to seal off some gaps, but that’s to be expected. It was likely about 90° in my space before I turned them on and these had me feeling much cooler and more comfortable within about 30 minutes (run on medium at 68°) and after about an hour and a half, I didn’t feel the need to run them on medium anymore. They’re pretty quiet on the low fan cool setting, but of course they are louder on medium and high but nothing that will disturb my peace in my studio. having a window AC unit is not the prettiest thing so I can’t speak to aesthetics but I’m very happy with these —my problem has been solved..
