"George Washington Witnessing the Raising of the First American Flag, Boston 1776" by Henry Hintermeister is a patriotic historical painting depicting the moment when George Washington observed the first official American flag being raised in Boston during the American Revolution. January 1, 1776: George Washington ordered the Grand Union Flag to be raised over Prospect Hill in Boston, signaling the formation of the Continental Army. This was before the British evacuation of Boston (March 17, 1776), during the Siege of Boston, a crucial early event in the Revolutionary War. The Grand Union Flag featured 13 red and white stripes but retained the British Union Jack in the canton, symbolizing the colonies’ initial struggle not for independence but for rights within the British Empire.

I ADORE this sofa!!! Never before has a piece of furniture had me feeling such joy! EVERYTHING I wanted — perfect length (86”) and depth for my 6’1” husband to lie down completely stretched out, square arms (look how wide & flat they are!!!), plush cushions and pillows (like being hugged by a cloud!), the softest fabric, and an amazing color pattern (it’s like tweed; predominantly gray with gorgeous, subtle threads of black and gold throughout it, and my pics do NOT do it justice). I had visited a LaZBoy store fully intending to buy THIS sofa from them before I walked in — I was about to be the easiest sale they would ever make (#takemymoney) — but they said it would take 6-8 weeks minimum (!!!) to deliver this sofa or any other sofa. I needed a sofa ASAP after moving a long distance and could not wait that long, so I’d just have to settle for something else. But every sofa I sat on in every store had issues: Too short, not deep enough, low quality fabric, mesh on the bottom of the cushions (so you can’t flip them), a light fabric color that would stain easily and show marks/dirt, and/or straps below the cushions instead of a more solid structure. My heart sank, but you do what you gotta do, so I was about to pull the trigger on one of these dreadfully inferior options when I stumbled upon THIS sofa on Wayfair! Wayfair sells LaZBoy sofas?! And delivers in 2.5 weeks! And the price was INCREDIBLE! (I snagged this puppy in THE LAST HOUR of their Cyber Monday sale — AND used their 15% off coupon they send when you move and change your USPS address. BOOYAH. As Delivery Day approached, I could barely contain my excitement. Our days of sitting in cheap camping chairs in our living room were almost over. (WORTH IT.) When the delivery crew arrived, I wanted to hug them SO BADLY. (I didn’t. But I really, reaaaally wanted to.) After they left, I lounged on this beauty for 8 glorious hours (with bathroom breaks, of course; I’m not an animal) while enjoying a marathon of Christmas movies (and I don’t even like Christmas movies). This famous moment on Christmas night 1776 proved to be a pivotal turning point in Washington's campaign for independence during the Revolutionary War. The river crossing was the beginning of the surprise attack organized by George Washington against Hessian forces (German mercenaries) in Trenton, New Jersey under the command of Johann Rall.

The lovely ladies of the court are saying farewell as the group of Medieval knights from the Round Table: Sirs Tristam, Percivale, Gareth, Gawain, Uweine, Bors, and Galahad ready to depart for their quest for the San Graal. Designed as a sequence of six tapestries from Le Morte d'Arthur's commission while Burne-Jones was working with Morris and Co. It took Burne-Jones and Dearie, who designed the Gothic tapestries backgrounds, over five years (1891-1894) to produce the tapestries of the Legend of King Arthur. British artist Burne-Jones worked with Pre-Raphaelite Rossetti and with William Morris in the decorative Arts and Crafts movement, he also helped to revive the tradition of stained glass art. Burne-Jones' interests span from the mythical, Medieval and Gothic romanticism to appreciation of the Italian masters. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. This replica European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. St. Michael Vanquishing Satan is a painting by the Italian High Renaissance artist Raphael. The image consists of the archangel Michael standing on top of Satan's back with his right foot, while holding a spear in his hands. It is a large-scale and mature version of a subject he had earlier treated in the youthful miniature called St. Michael. Both works have been located in the Louvre in Paris since 1667. The painting was commissioned by Pope Leo X. This painting has symbolic meaning within the Christian religion as it symbolizes God triumphing over evil. Raphael had a gift for creating images that evoked divinity in a subtle way and was known being skillful at creating space within his compositions as well as movement captured at a stand still. Techniques that were used by Raphael were adopted at the Academie royale de peinture et de sculpture by Charles Le Brun as the foundation of French classicism. Raphael as an artist was known to stand his ground even against popes and cardinals. Having a father who was also an artist, he had the upper hand with navigating the art field.
