This famous moment on Christmas night 1776 proved to be a pivotal turning point in Washington's campaign for independence during the Revolutionary War. The lovely ladies of the court are saying farewell as the group of Medieval knights from the Round Table: Sirs Tristam, Percivale, Gareth, Gawain, Uweine, Bors, and Galahad ready to depart for their quest for the San Graal. Designed as a sequence of six tapestries from Le Morte d'Arthur's commission while Burne-Jones was working with Morris and Co. It took Burne-Jones and Dearie, who designed the Gothic tapestries backgrounds, over five years (1891-1894) to produce the tapestries of the Legend of King Arthur. British artist Burne-Jones worked with Pre-Raphaelite Rossetti and with William Morris in the decorative Arts and Crafts movement, he also helped to revive the tradition of stained glass art.
