The idea behind this is brilliant. I just wasn't so sure about the dimensions provided to order the correct item for my lights - and I didn't. The outside width is 5" and the inside clips to hold inside the recessed can are 4." If this lasts less than the 50,000 hours advertised, I would be hesitant as throwing away a single light bulb seems environmentally preferable to throwing away this entire apparatus. One star deducted for lack of adequate dimensions in the listing. I didn't get to try the various settings because, alas, my smallest can light is actually 6 inches, so I'll have to try the appropriate size. This ceiling medallion added an element of historic design to my renovation. Note that the bluish areas in the photo are actually cut out, and when installed, your ceiling will show through in those spots. Center area around the opening is thicker than the edges. I changed out the light plate cover to a deeper profile. Applied easily with construction adhesive and temporarily held in place with tape till the adhesion dried.
