Follow the instructions!! I used weights on a book to help the legs level while I tightened bolts and screws. If you have arthritis, you’re going to need help with assembly, as it takes some physical force with the hands on tools. I ordered 6 chairs total. 2 (one box) of the chairs were defective. I messaged Wayfair through the app, explaining what was wrong with the chairs with pictures added and they responded via text within 5 minutes. The resolution was very seamless. You really cannot tell how it would fit without seeing it in person; honestly, it would be helpful if Wayfair put the both sized stools up to the counter in a photo. For now, you have me telling you, that if you are buying this for the Dodge Kitchen Island, and especially if you are putting the wheels on that island which puts the counter at 38" high, consider buying the 30" inch stools, Ok? The Mahogany stools are not as dark as the counter top, but the black would not have matched either, soooo . . . it is what it is; we still love them because they are GORGEOUS !! You will love them too! If you do buy the 24" inch stools, know that they will be easier for your kids to climb into. Bar stools are very nice. Very pretty well represented in picture. The only issue is one stool came with three back legs, and one front leg. So it does not have the foot rest attached.
