This is without a doubt an outstanding ladder for durability and reaching those higher ceilings. Because it is so sturdy (which I wanted!), it is a bit heavier and awkward setting up and closing it up to store. VERY happy with this stool; it will get a lot of use! (Keep reading.) I love my two-step kitchen stool but its 18" height falls short since I have a higher ceiling and tall (42") upper cabs - getting into the top shelf, esp. over the fridge to the back or cleaning above, requires more. This four-stepper is stout (but manageable weight) - I like that it feels sturdy (I'm male, weigh over 200 lbs.). The fourth step is almost 36" high. The raised handle offers security "for the climb." It folds flat to 4" (can squeeze down to nearly 3") and leans against my fridge return out of the way (it's slightly over 17" wide at base, nearly 53" tall when collapsed). I esp. like the soft rubber feet for my floor and (very nice!) the feet are riveted in place so I don't expect to be chasing a lose, runaway foot down the road some time. IF you need the height this is the right stool at the right price, but note its size: 36" footprint when expanded - a tiny kitchen challenge though smaller than my ladder :). John. Boulder, CO.
