My wife helped a little. It takes candelabra type bulbs. I chose to use 60 watt bulbs for brightness.. The maximum hanging height is 2 ft. It is a beautiful matte black finish. I think it was a beautiful addition to our kitchen. We have received many compliments on it. This is a super high quality light fixture. I would definitely recommend Kichler lighting to everyone..
