It works for holding single LP's. It is roomy enough inside the frame to hold an album with a sleeve and the magnet used to keep the lid on seems strong enough, but it isn't super strong so you need to make sure nothing is caught while closing the frame. Like many all-in-one decorative record players, the built-in speakers leave something to be desired. The sound is perfectly acceptable for casual listening, but it’s not going to satisfy anyone looking for high-fidelity audio. Fortunately, it has outputs that allow me to connect my own powered speakers, and that makes a huge difference in sound quality.
