I have two senior dogs and it gets cold here in the Northeast. The cover on this pet heating pad is so soft and it is removable and can be machine washed. There is a timer setting and the temperature range is from 61-69. The instructions say different temperatures but the ones I mentioned are the ones on the remote. I do like that the cord is protected with a casing around it, my dogs are not chewers but this is a nice feature for the ones that are. I have two smaller dogs so they both fit on this pad. I was really disappointed to find that this bed isn't truly waterproof... I ordered it to donate to a foster program, and thought it would be perfect for new kittens/puppies and their mothers - they can be pretty messy. :( The outer nylon cover is absolutely waterproof and as heavy and chew-resistant as described, but I dribbled water on the furry mattress cover and found that the interior was damp after a minute. I still rate it high though, and recommend it. I'll tell them to use pee-pads over the mattress and it'll work well. It's very well made from nice materials. The mattress is stiff enough to not crush over time, but is also very supportive and comfortable. The side rails are stiff enough to stay upright and not sag under a heavy head. The non- skid bottom is actually "tacky" enough to really be non-skid. All of those qualities make it a better bed than most.
