The site for this Dreaming makes up a part of a long Dreaming track stretching from one end of the Warlpiri country to the other and sits adjacent to the windmill at Rabbit Flat in the Northern Territory. This Dreaming is very important to its owners, as it tells the story of proper conduct in families and marriages. This Dreaming tells the story of two dog ancestors, a male, Jampinjinpa, and a female, Napangardi, who was traveling across the Warlpiri country from the west to the east. Beginning their journey at Yarrajalpa, a waterhole, they traveled through the country, digging holes in the ground and creating ‘warnirri' (rock holes) and ‘ngapa' (waterholes) as they went. The two dogs separated at Tapu, with the female dog, Napangardi, heading south, and the male dog, Jampijinpa, heading north. Eventually, Jampijinpa became lonely and howled for Napangardi in the south. She came running to him, and they married each other at Ngarnka. They wore men's and women's marriage headdresses, and Jampijinpa painted himself with white clay for the ceremony. After they were married, they continued their journey together, moving slowly to the east, eventually reaching Warlaku (Ali Curung), where many other dogs were living. There were families – mothers, fathers, children, and uncles all living together. Jampijinpa and Napangardi made a burrow for themselves to rest in, and started their own big family of dogs, choosing to stay and live amongst the other families in Warlaku. The highlight of Paris in the Bella epoque era was the Grand Prix horse race at Longchamp. Afterward the fashionably dressed gathered for dinner at the Armenonville Pavilion, a sparkling restaurant on the shore of Bois de Boulogne, bringing together the many of the beautiful people and varied personalities and classes including the pictured notorious Spanish actress and dancer, La Bello Otero star of the Folies-Bergere. Gervex, sometimes considered an Impressionist, was also an academic and classically trained painter who favored larger works including wall panels. On one of his many travels, Gervex was commissioned to paint portraits of the Czar Nicholas II and the Russian royal family. This Aboriginal artwork depicts the water Dreaming and tells a story of two Jangala men, rainmakers, who sang for the rain and unleashed a giant storm. The storm traveled from the east to the west until it reached Warlura, a waterhole to the east of Yuendumu in the Northern Territory. At Warburg, a gecko blew the storm away. The storm continued on, covering the lands with rain and shooting out bolts of lightning, awakening the "Kurdukurdu Mangkurdu Jukurrpa" (children of the clouds Dreaming). The water Dreaming built hills at Ngamangama and stuck long pointy clouds into the ground at Jukajuka, where they can still be seen today in the Northern Territory as rock formations. The water Dreaming continued its travels to Mikanji, a watercourse northwest of Yuendumu, where the storm was picked up by a "Kirrkarlanji" (brown falcon) and taken farther north. At Puyurru, the falcon dug up a giant "Warnayarra" (rainbow serpent). The serpent carried water with it to create another large lake, before traveling on through other locations and eventually arriving at Gurindji country to the north. In contemporary Warlpiri paintings, traditional iconography is used to represent the "Jukurrpa" (Dreaming). Short dashes are often used to represent "Mangkurdu" (cumulus & stratocumulus clouds), and longer, flowing lines represent "Ngawarra" (flood waters). Small circles are used to depict "Mulju" (soakages) and riverbeds.
