This was the only hardware I could fine with a solid rail. The kit arrived well packaged and I am impressed with the overall quality of materials and the instructions. The rail is solid, and the mouning hardware is really well designed, with adjustable spacers depending on your configuration. I did not want the metal straps on the front of the door, so I opted for the top mount configuration. I outsmarted myself and added another 1/4" to the recommended height, and I should not have done that. Use the 2" rail stops from the top of the door and you will be fine, even if you are installing over a carpet floor, like I was. I also wound up trimming the rail because I have a perpendicular wall next tot he door. I used a small hack saw, which worked OK, but it took some time and effort. Perhaps a circular grinder would have been better. Regardless, it worked out fine and looks great. I definitely recommend this hardware if you are haning a barn door.. Robert. San Diego, CA. Everything worked out well! We used this kit as sliding door instead of poker door. We covered the hardware part with wood and paint so that hardware won’t expose and it doesn’t look like a farmhouse which our house is not like that. In the original box, a set of wheels was missing. Since the door rolls on the floor, this system is not compatible with most carpet. Only a tightly weaved carpet is compatible with this hardware.This hardware has been cycle-tested to 20,000 cycles. The patented Houdini Hardware™ features concealed rails and rollers — this hardware is not visible on the wall, as it is mounted at the bottom edge and the back top edge of the door. Wheels mounted at the bottom of the rolling/sliding door roll directly on the floor, and carry 100% of the weight of the door. Since the door rolls on the floor, this system is not compatible with most carpet. Only a tightly weaved carpet is compatible with this hardware. Or the Wall Support Guide may be located aligned with or even spaced back from the edge of the door opening to allow the door to open to the full width or further than the wall opening. Refer to the online installation instructions for the Houdini Hardware for specific guidelines. And door size also depends upon if your wall opening is surrounded by decorative casing or molding. (Casing cannot be more than 1” deep). Determine the minimum door width: Two options - either the door opens to with full width of the wall opening, or the door can partially cover a portion of the wall opening. (For instance - for a bathroom door, you may want 4 to 6 inches of door remaining accessible after opening to easily access the door pull from the bathroom side of the door). To calculate door width to open exposing the full wall opening, then measure the distance of the wall opening and add 8” (wall opening width + 8” = minimum door width. The door can be wider than this). Example: If the wall opening is 30”, then a door size of at least 38” will be needed. **NOTE** IF YOU HAVE CASING/TRIM AROUND THE OPENING, AND YOU WANT TO COVER WHEN FULLY OPEN OR FULLY CLOSED, PLEASE ACCOUNT FOR THE SIZE OF THE TRIM WHEN MEASURING FOR THE DOOR WIDTH. FOR EXAMPLE: The door opening is 30" and your trim on both sides adds 6", then a door size of 44" or larger will be needed for a FULLY OPEN APPLICATION. For a Partially Open application, it is recommended that the width of the door is at least 8” greater than the width of the door opening. However, this application can be adjusted to a common width of the door. For example, if the wall opening is 30”, then a door size of at least 38” will be needed. A 36” wide door can be used by placing the edge of the door 2” into the opening. This will decrease the opening size from 30” to 28”. Determine the minimum door height: For a Door Boot mounted ON (and not IN) the bottom edge of the door, measure between the finished floor and the top frame, then add 1” (height of the floor to the frame + 1” = minimum door height). IF your door opening has decorative casing, then measure from the floor to the top of the casing and add 1” for the minimum door height. For a completely hidden and concealed hardware appearance, then mount the Door Boot INSIDE (and not ON) the bottom edge of the door. This requires routing an edge-to-edge slot in the bottom of the 1-3/4” thick door. To determine the door height for this installation, measure between the finished floor and the top frame, then add 3” (height of frame + 3” = minimum door height). IF your door opening has decorative casing, then measure from the floor to the top of the casing, and add 3” for the minimum door height.

Love this invisible hardware as a modern option to traditional barn door hardware. We bought several Iron and Glass Doors and Glass Reeded Doors from Wayfair and although the doors came with traditional barn door hardware we opted to purchase this Houdini Hardware and it was a fabulous decision. We were able to add a piece of poplar to the top of the door frame and we will paint it black to match the door, to allow for the hardware to fit as you need 2 1/2 inches of width to attach the hardware. Only the hardware is for sale, doors are not included. The hardware package only has lag bolts for wooden wall/drywall. If you are installing the hardware on a concrete wall, please send us a message asking for specialized bolts. Their product is compatible with a door. If you have a thinner or thicker door, please contact us for the correct length of the bolts for the hangers. Please notify us to put spacer extensions in the package if you have thicker doors. The spacer extension will extend the track further from the wall to fit the thicker door. If you have a door trim, you’d better put a header board that is as thick as the trim and then attach the rail to the header board. You need to have at least 6" of space between the top of the door to the ceiling to accommodate the hardware. They use two hangers to hold one door. For a single door kit, there will be two hangers in the package. For a double door kit, there will be four hangers. If you have a door that is either too wide or too heavy, then you can purchase addition hangers for that door.

If you are installing the hardware on a concrete wall, please send us a message asking for specialized bolts. Their product is compatible with a door. If you have a thinner or thicker door, please contact us for the correct length of the bolts for the hangers. Please notify us to put spacer extensions in the package if you have thicker doors. The spacer extension will extend the track further from the wall to fit the thicker door. If you have a door trim, you’d better put a header board that is as thick as the trim and then attach the rail to the header board. You need to have at least 6" of space between the top of the door to the ceiling to accommodate the hardware. They use two hangers to hold one door. For a single door kit, there will be two hangers in the package. For a double door kit, there will be four hangers. If you have a door that is either too wide or too heavy, then you can purchase addition hangers for that door.

The doors themselves were great after installing these and seeing that its not very private because theres a huge gap on each in of the door my preference is not to use barn doors. The package includes all the hardware kits you need to install a sliding barn door. Except for doors. The barn door hardware can be used both inside and outside. It is rustproof, waterproof, and fireproof. The standard door thickness for our hardware is 1 3/8'' to 1 3/4''. If your door thickness is not within that range, please go to our second tab, "Customization Services," for more detailed instructions on how to customize it. The spacing between each hole is American Standard 16''. Tracks 8 feet and under are one single track instead of being connected by multiple shorter tracks. Tracks from 9 feet to 16 feet will be connected by two tracks. Tracks 18 feet and 20 feet will be connected by three tracks. Therefore, the spacing between the holes in the connecting section may not be 16''. Each complete track can hold a door weight of up to 220 lbs. Usually, we recommend the track length to be at least double the total door width or the opening. For example, if you have two doors that are each 30'' wide, You will need 2* (30''+30'') = 120'' long track. Or if you have an opening that is 48'' wide, you will need at least a 96'' long track. The minimum clearance (from the top of the door to the ceiling) you need to install this barn door hardware is 6''.
