Knowing that the artist never visited a jungle, but was instead inspired by book illustrations and the botanical gardens in Paris, makes the dreamlike quality of this work even more poignant. The French-born Rousseau claimed "no teacher other than nature" and is the most celebrated and influential of all nave or primitive painters. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.
My fault for not reading the description, but when I searched Wayfair I searched for oil reproduction painting, and this is a print, not a painting.
It looks like something someone printed at home and made by crafting, not at all something I would want to stare at our have on my wall, very cheap looking.
6 years ago I purchased some oil reproductions from Wayfair that were actual oil reproductions at great savings compared to other websites, unfortunately it seems they no longer get those products.
Returning this asap, will gladly pay 2X the Wayfair price for this painting in actual oils, and a better hand selected frame. This print insults the original work any eyes laid upon it.. Anonymous. Fri Sep 26 2025
