Checking occurs when the logs dry and the cells shrink causing the wood to split. This does not weaken the wood. Checking helps give cedar furniture its rustic beauty. Won't it be nice to have a unique yard piece that even your neighbors will envy?

Chair is cedar and looks like the one pictured (good). Not sure what “handcrafted” means but it’s a stretch. Chair was made with a power router (by backsliding Amish?) and only the seating surface is sanded. Very rough surfaces. Came with zinc bolts not appropriate for outdoors. Came mostly assembled and solid. Pre-assembled parts do have coated screws. Reasonably happy but seller should remove Amish and handcrafted from title and send galvanized bolts.. Daniel.
