It was during the ferocious battle with the Guerriere that British seamen, astonished at how their cannonballs were bouncing off the Constitution's hull, cried out, 'Sir, Her sides are made from Iron!' Hence, the nickname, 'Old Ironsides''. The Constitution today is a national landmark and is docked in Boston.

The Fighting Temeraire is JMW Turner’s tribute to this famous English warship, hero of the Battle of Trafalgar (1805) that rescued HMS Victory, Admiral Nelson's front line warship. The artist represents the moment when, on September 5 and 6, 1838, the Temeraire was towed, from the Thames estuary (from Sheerness) to its place of demolition (at Rotherhithe), by a steam tug. The dark and heavy form of the latter is brought to life as an innovative driving force, as evidenced by the tall smoking chimney and the two paddle wheels. It contrasts with the noble whitish silhouette of the Temeraire, which seems to glide, like a phantom vessel on the waves, towards its ultimate end. Turner accentuates the dramatic destiny of the warship by placing the scene at the end of the day, in the setting sun. The moon is also present, at the top left; its light is reflected in the calm waters. The sky inflamed with yellow, orange, red and mauve floods the surface of the painting, creating a vaporous and dramatic atmosphere, attenuated by the blue of the horizon

This model is a smaller-scale version of a much larger version such as the USS Constitution 36" and the 56". The model is handcrafted from beautiful wood such as rosewood, mahogany, teak, and along with various other exotic wood. The hull is constructed using a plank-on-frame method, each strip of exotic wood is carefully joined together to form a smooth hull. This model is completely hand-built to spec by skillful and creative master craftsmen; you will be amazed at how real it looks. The ship has a clear varnished coating followed by amazing details. On the ship, you will spot amazing details such as wooden bowsprit, foremast, mainmast, and mizzen mast. They are all connected to numerous fabric sails with detailed stitching, all rigging is painstakingly fastened by hand in matching colors. There's a small wooden cabin with a wooden boat on the main deck. On the quarter-deck, there's a wooden cabin. There are wooden fences surrounding the teak deck area toward the quarter deck area. You can easily spot a large number of cannons on both sides of the hull, and other crafted parts on the front and back of the ship. There's also a wooden rudder to help the ship maneuver in the right direction. An attached wooden stand with a nameplate engraved "USS Constitution" is standard on this model. The model was built according to scale through original plans, pictures, and drawings. Manufacturers absolutely use no plastic parts only the highest quality wood parts. This model is carefully secure and packed inside a wooden crate for easy shipping purposes.

The U.S.S. Monitor, an ironclad warship, was built in 1862 during the American Civil War by the United States Navy in response to Virginia seceding from the Union. It fought against the C.S.S. Virginia in the Battle of Hampton Roads. It is available as a FULLY ASSEMBLED model ready to be proudly displayed as a piece of history. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings, and original plans. They are built to scale with high-grade materials such as wood, polyester resin, metal, and MDF. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction methods and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. The U.S.S. Monitor exquisite details include metal cannons, wooden small boats, pilothouse, skylights, US flags, Union Jack flags, smokestacks, and air intake stacks. There are black railings all around the ship and on the turret. The rivets on all armor plating make the boat look cool. You can also see metal stanchions that support the turret roof panel. This is a reproduction of Charles Patterson's oil painting depicting the batlle between the USS Frigate Constitution and the HMS Java, December 1812. The USS Constitution commanded by Captain William Bainbridge, exchanging broadsides with the British Frigate Java off Brazil early in the action. During nearly two hours of battle, Java was dismasted and had to surrender. Her damage was so severe that she had to be burned.
