The Top Draw XD is an upgraded version of our original Top Draw 2912-S BLK. This upgrade makes it extremely difficult to punch out the lock from the outside. The interior is lined with thick foam on the top and bottom to secure your firearm while traveling. The top opening case features an easily programmable five push button Simplex mechanical lock that does not require batteries. The Top Draw can accommodate up to two pistols depending on their sizes. It is nicely textured in a semi-gloss black powder coating and accented with a silver V-Line logo and stainless steel faceplate. This is a decently built wall safe, installation was easy. It holds several long guns, pistols and other valuables. The only snafu was getting the shelf support brackets into place because the cabinet is snug on the sides to the wall studs. My husband had to route out the studs a bit so that the support brackets would sit properly. This took about an hour and 30 minutes to put together. I’d recommend having a second person hold it while you put it together. The door is semi heave when it’s open which can cause it to fall on you while you are putting it together. Definitely recommend anchoring it to the wall as well. It came a little damaged but it was just cosmetic. Once it was put together the door wouldn’t close. I had to mess with the hinges a bit with a screw driver to get it to fix. This is a nice height good quality nightstand. I will warn you it has a lot of piece but don’t feel discouraged. They are all properly labeled and really easy to put together. The hardest part was putting the rails on in the beginning. They are quite tall but the perfect amount of storage. To be able to have a cabinet that locks to guns and valuable safety is amazing.
