Nice sturdy (enough) island with enough storage to hold my KitchenAid Stand Mixer (14-cup; 6 gallon). The drop leaf is held up by locking arm in the middle of the leaf. The locking arm is sturdy and won’t collapse under pressure (you have to reach under the leaf and push in on the locking arm to get it to collapse). However, the edges of the drop leaf aren’t supported. So it’ll hold a bit of weight at the edges (plates, glasses) but I don’t think a person can rest their elbows and lean on it. Overall, the was an excellent option for my space. Saved me money (custom island would’ve been thousands of dollars). Arrived pretty quickly (no damage) and was pretty easy to assemble (though not quick). Locking wheels do hold the unit in place (unless you really push on it or try to lean upon it).. Kerry. We ordered the rolling island in white with stainless top. It was a bear to assemble, but we got it done. I chose this one because the wheels are hidden. It’s a lovely cabinet from the front and adds storage in the kitchen. It moves easily, sometimes too easily. The things I’m not crazy about are the back of the cabinet has panels that are secured with plastic tabs and screws. If you’re using this as an island, just know that they will show. The top is thin metal that scratches easily and shows EVERY handfingerprint. The top MUST have a towel etc under a cutting board to protect it. Had to polish to try and get matching finish. Had to shim the counter up a bit to give the drawers clearance to freely open and close. All in all, good looking piece for the money. I received my kitchen cart last week and it arrived early and in perfect condition. It is absolutely beautiful and fits perfectly into my kitchen, adding some much needed space for my baking supplies! The piece is very sturdy and all of the moving parts are perfectly aligned. The assembly was a little time consuming but not in a bad way. (I love doing this stuff...infinitely better than jigsaw puzzles!) Just pay attention to the orientation of things like the drawer sliders and you will be fine! I didn't have any problems - but I really did pay attention carefully along the way. There are all sorts of niches to store things so that they are organized and within reach. I decided to use the wheels so that cleaning around it will be much easier - or so that I can wheel it over to the counter to add workspace, especially for holiday baking. The original hardware was brushed nickel, which is lovely - but my kitchen cabinets have black pulls. It was easy to find those locally - so now my new kitchen cart perfectly matches the white shaker cabinets with their black handles in my kitchen. If you are on the fence, buy it. This is a great product. It’s wasn’t difficult to put together but it took a long time due to so many pieces. It took about 5.5 hours to assemble for one person but I think would be quicker and easier with 2 people. I gave it four stars because the trash bin drawer is a little shaky so we added L brackets to give a little more stability to the drawer. Overall I think this was a great purchase.. Sandra.
