First of all, this piece is absolutely gorgeous and very well made. I gave this weathervane to my husband because we have about 45 domestic ducks and 25 wild ducks on our farm. This looks just like the ducks when they are coming in for a landing and they ski down the surface of the pond! He absolutely loved it! I put it together, EASILY, and he even mounted it on our well house in the dark! because he was so anxious to see it! We all live on farms in our area. Very well made. Installed it on my 30X40 metal pole barn. Secured it with Gorilla Glue Adhesive caulk and two 6 inch lag screws. This cupola will never blow down. It comes in white with a black metal roof. Weather vane is also all black. I painted the sides green with a white accent stripe. Painted the eagle gold and the NSEW white. Looks great. Quality cupola! I installed this on a backyard shed that has a ridge vent. I cut the ridge vent as recommended in the installation instructions - a bit nerve-racking, but it turned out fine.
