It’s a quality piece and a beautiful dark gray. The surface feels like wood, looks like wood. But the directions aren’t detailed. Easy enough to figure out with a few tips There are little flanges on the internal posts — and those need to be hammered into place (directions dont indicate this) — otherwise the top piece cant attach. Some of the pieces need coaxing to slide into place — again a few taps with a hammer and they’ll go in. The bottom piece has a metal sleeve — and you need to ensure the metal holes align to the external holes before assembling the whole thing — otherwise you’ll need to drill holes through the metal (what I did). This trellis definitely needs two people to put it together. Be careful when you push the thinner slats into the holes because they can bend. I found that I must keep my hand close to the bottom of the slat when pushing into the hole. Otherwise, if too much pressure is applied from the top of the slat, it will bend and cause a crease in the slat. This only happened to me once; then I learned my lesson. Once put together, this is a beautiful trellis. I did a lot of research into the best material to hold up under extreme weather conditions (I live in Florida), and learned that this PVC is the best. Appears sturdy and easy to assemble. Color was not uniform out of the box - lighter colored streaks in it. Installed about a month ago and some of the cross slats are sagging already, meaning they are bowed instead of straight across.
