Each hand-hewn mantel piece starts as a solid log. Then they get hand-hewn and distressed by a highly skilled team of artisans. These rustic-looking beams are each unique from one another, including nail holes, knots, and hand-hewn marks. All mantels are kiln-dried to remove moisture and preserve the integrity of the wood, making them suitable for long-term use indoors. Rustic mantels are the perfect spot to display family photos or vintage collectibles and will enhance the rustic charm of any room. The mantel shelf gives a unique weathered look. These mantels are solid wood and should be mounted according to the wall construction wherever the mantel is displayed. Longer-length mantels may be heavy and exceed 80 pounds. The six multi-sized tiles are the beginning of a patio area. They came well packaged in a cardboard box and plastic wrapped onto a solid pallet delivered by a freight company--no breakage here! The tiles state that they were Made in Italy. The pattern is attractive and the tiles sturdy! The inspiration for this collection comes from the flooring recovered from an old country home in Romagna, dating back to the early 1900s, when cement began to be used as a binder for renovation work, but pieces of marble or recycled materials were used as insets. In the porcelain stoneware of I COCCI, the grain size varies depending on the size of the different pieces obtained from a single type of traditional white marble chips and white cotto. The mortar used is grey on the outside and white at the core. The collection features a base tile with the same “gravelly” pattern present on the decorative element.

These tiles are so beautiful! Not only are they made well with precise cutting on each edge, the surface patterns are smooth to the touch even though they are not a glossy finish. They add a real touch of beauty to my kitchen. I would have preferred fewer patterns in the selection (there are 8 or 9). I chose two favorites for this project (my kitchen rolling cart), and I have several other similar projects in mind, including an inlaid serving tray.
