It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. Spectacular! I added this to the master bedroom because with a trey ceiling, it seemed to plain to just hang a light in the middle of the upper tier. This added such great detail and focuses the eye to that. I plan to put up the hanging crystal light I purchased on Wayfair at this medallion. It arrived safe and was well-packaged. It was easy to put up- use silicone to help adhere it and 18g finish nails at an angle in the corners and at the center. Caulk the edge to the ceiling and paint it. I sprayed it flat along with the ceiling to see what it looked like, but repainting just the medallion in a satin finish (same color as ceiling) helps the details pop more.
