It’s vegan leather and my cat immediately poked a hole in the fabric, but she really latched on (she jumped on it not knowing it would be slick and had to catch herself - sigh) but the material is otherwise supple and has a leather feel and look that works really well. The storage area is small, and it’s taller than other ottomans of like size - which is great! Soft to sit on and soft to accidentally kick in the dark.
