It attaches to your chair with the help of ties, and the cover is removable with the help of a zipper closure when it needs a quick clean.

The lounge chair is well built but the instructions and labels on the legs are very unclear. There is a big difference between front legs and rear legs and there are NO markings on legs or instructions to advise of the difference. I am very mechanically knowledgeable and it took me a few times assembling and disassembling legs before I figured out the difference.
