My husband had to drill out the bracket holes so that the screws would fit, and it was really hard to line up the base onto the screws. You may want to consider professional installation. Flush mount lights can be really annoying to install because there is so little space to align the mounting screws with the holes in the fixture. We solved problem by using longer screws than supplied, and enlarging the holes in the fixture. Since the glass globe covers the screws and nuts and washers, this change in undetectable.. Geoffrey.
