It was originally going to have 90 guns, but King Charles I personally insisted that a ''great ship'' be built for the English Royal Navy, so it went to sea with 102 bronze guns. The vessel was the most extravagantly decorated warship in the Royal Navy, completely adorned from stern to bow with gilded carvings. The ship was later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign. It was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.

This model is completely hand built to spec by skillful and creative master craftsmen; you will be amazed at how real it looks. On the ship, you will spot amazing components such as wooden bowsprit, foremast, mainmast, and mizzen mast. They are all connected to numerous fabric sails with detailed stitching, all rigging are painstakingly fastened by hand in matching colors. And of course, this model was built according to scale through original plans, pictures, and drawings. It is part of the Limited Edition line and we have only built 5 of these so far. This beautiful display case was made out of hardwood and painted in dark mahogany color. It has a distinctive design that adds elegance and beauty when displayed in your home or office. This case is very effective when it comes to preventing dust particles as well as keeping your valuable tall ship looking new and protected at all time. The San Felipe was one of the most beautiful Spanish ships in the 1600s. Launched in 1690, it had 96 cannons and was the lead ship of the feared Spanish Armada. It was powerful enough to go up against the most formidable ships in the French and British navies. In 1705, the San Felipe and 11 other Spanish ships waged a furious and heroic battle against 35 British ships. After 24 hours of fighting, the San Felipe was captured but was so badly damaged that it could not be salvaged as a prize. It sank with several tons of gold.

I love this boat bookcase! It took a few weeks to get it, but when it arrived it was perfect. Worth the wait! I was a little concerned that it would be the one that looked a bit more ‘distressed’, but it isn’t at all. This is the “Blue” version that is 74” H x 18” W x 20” D. The paint is very smooth and flawless. The color is a lighter aquateal color, which I really like. It’s very sturdy and doesn’t rock at all when you touch it, and doesn’t seem like it will tip over easily, so I skipped anchoring it to the wall. Very pleased with this purchase!. Pegasys777.
