My cats took to this immediately, from the time I had the pieces all over the floor, to the time it was built. I like how nice it looks in the house. I bought this gray wood and the darker wood version. It was fairly easy to build, especially if you use a power screw driver. There were a couple of places I had to drill the holes a little deeper to get the screws in, but I’m not very strong. The one thing t had trouble with is the bigger wood pieces had black plastic pieces on the corners. The directions are awful, there's a youtube video that shows a guy setting up a similar gate, his is French door style but the set up is very similar so it was helpful because we were totally lost trying to figure it out. Anyway its perfect for our needs. We needed to keeo 3 if our cats separate from one cat. They can slip through sometimes by messing with the side pole to move it over just enough to slip through but still this is a good enough solution for us. My cats love these. We have two now, over for each cat, because the basket is their favorite part and they don't like to share. They are fairly easy to put together. I had a little bit of trouble orienting the process to the instruction booklet but that's a me-thing. It was missing one size of screw needed to securely fasten the center box.
