The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. My cats love these. We have two now, over for each cat, because the basket is their favorite part and they don't like to share. They are fairly easy to put together. I had a little bit of trouble orienting the process to the instruction booklet but that's a me-thing. It was missing one size of screw needed to securely fasten the center box. Pretty good product to be honest! The only thing I would change is that the doors would be magnetized with the outside lock rather than the smaller locks in the inside making it difficult to clean out the litter box if you have limited movement in your hands. My hands cramp very easily but that’s on me. I should have done more research on this but all in all, not that bad. Nice and spacious for an extra large litter box and a nice shelf.
