They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. Much nicer than expected! We needed something higher up in our sunroom so that the cats could lounge without the dogs bugging them, and this was perfect! Fairly straightforward assembly, and pretty well thought out with the placement of parts and the inclusion of non-slip grip tape. My cats took to this immediately, from the time I had the pieces all over the floor, to the time it was built. I like how nice it looks in the house. I bought this gray wood and the darker wood version. It was fairly easy to build, especially if you use a power screw driver. There were a couple of places I had to drill the holes a little deeper to get the screws in, but I’m not very strong. The one thing t had trouble with is the bigger wood pieces had black plastic pieces on the corners.
