They do take a minute to assemble, and the instructions aren't great (had to redo a few bolts to get everything to line up properly, tip--get every bolt in before you tighten any of them, even a little bit), but the quality feels really nice. So if you're sitting in it, you can turn around, but they don't automatically return to the original position, which means I still have to go around and straighten them. We LOVE our new bar stools! We bought a new house with a really high counter and it needed stools. Our counter is 47 inches tall and we bought the 36 inch stools. At first, I was thinking they were too high, but after we got used to it, we are comfortable eating in this arrangement. I still would probably take two inches off if I could but my husband and I use them for every meal. We also bought a new dining set but we’ve only used it when we have visitors.
