They do take a minute to assemble, and the instructions aren't great (had to redo a few bolts to get everything to line up properly, tip--get every bolt in before you tighten any of them, even a little bit), but the quality feels really nice. Also, if it matters to you, the swivel is not a "return" swivel. So if you're sitting in it, you can turn around, but they don't automatically return to the original position, which means I still have to go around and straighten them. We needed barstools that were countertop height and would be able to support big people. The weight limit on these barstools is impressive. He sat in the stool but found it to be uncomfortable because the seat curves up a little on the sides, which digs into his rear and legs. He also felt like the seat wasnt deep enough for him to sit comfortably. Everyone else in the house loves the stools, so were definitely keeping them. My husband is also 63 but weighs 235 lbs. and he uses the stools every day. Thats a long-winded way of saying that people on the tall and wide side may need to find a stool with a wider, deeper seat or a bench style.
