Very tall and nice looking post. I was shocked by the exterior shell material, I expected it to be a bit thicker but instead it was thinner plastic. The inside post was heavy duty. I searched extensively for a non-wood product that actually looked like real wood and was substantial. This is it. Installation was a breeze if you’re handy with a drill and saw. We used our old 3x3 mail post (with the mailbox support removed) and this post slid right over it. Saved us the step of having to sink a new post into cement, which was huge. The best mailbox post I’ve found during a 2 month arduous search for a high quality piece. Most of the decorative posts I came across in my search were as thin as a milk jug, but not this one. It’s made from a solid PPE-vinyl material that’s evenly colored the same throughout its thickness. (I had to trim 38” from the mailbox mounting plate, so I saw for myself. I included a picture of the scrap piece). It’s SUPER sturdy, has a smooth surface, and cleaning requires a damp cloth, a spray of all purpose cleaner at worst. It’s also beautiful in person…I especially like the little brass plaque with the company name! I chose to have that side showing above the mailbox so the mailman sees every day lol. I think it adds a nice personal touch that other brands don’t bother with. The other ones I found of this quality were several hundred dollars more, and many of them were simply coated or painted wood, needing annual touch up and maintenance. Many were also made to order, and required a 6-8 week wait and 200-250 shipping). ***Tip the instructions state that two bags of concrete are needed, but I found that it only needed one, like every other post I’ve installed. In my opinion, one can save themselves the money and backache by using one bag of quick setting. (QuikCrete sells it in the red bag). Don’t forget that you’ll need a few inches of gravel underneath the concrete for drainage. There are plenty of YouTube videos on post installations.) I'm going to go ahead and review even though we are not to the point in our new home build where we are ready to install the mailbox. We did unpack to make sure we have all the parts. We might be missing a "plate" to attach the actual box to the post. One set of instructions said we should have it and the other instruction didn't show it...weird. The holes, however, do match up with the box and post so I'm hoping with this style maybe the missing plate is nothing we need. Each piece seems very sturdy, and it is such an elegant look to it. I can't wait to install. It was pretty pricey, and that was what took me so long to finally purchase. UPDATE: after 3 years, I still love it, BUT a truck clipped it less than a year installed and broke the decorative scroll part off. Unfortunately it’s not made of material that can be welded back on so we had someone make a similar scroll with iron. AND after a couple years the paint completely bubbled and peeled off! See pics for reference. The numbers didn’t last through the first year— All but 1 fell off during the winter and then that summer became discolored. They are currently stuck on with gorilla tape..
