This is a nice ice maker. I love cocktails and I have a ton of different ice makers, but none that make clear ice. I've made ice three times now and I still can't get the ice to come out perfectly square and clear -- an edge is always a little fuzzy or cracked, or there are some streaks running through. But overall I would say the ice is 90% clear and it looks even better when it's in the glass. The maker itself is fairly large, but I think it has to be to make the clear ice, and it's a little tricky to get the ice part out. I've used silicone ice cube trays before, and as my ice maker is on the fritz, I decided to get some more so that I could have a steady supply. I selected this set because I thought having a lid would make for more efficient storage in the freezer, and help keep the cubes fresh. As others have noted, I would recommend using a baking sheet to set your cubes up for an initial freeze, as the silicone is flexible and not very thick. My prior trays likewise benefit from this treatment, however, I will note that these ones generally have thinner walls. I do think that this could be a benefit in getting the cubes out.
