My 20-year old shower was leaking out the shower head even after replacing the mixer cap (rotating valve). Then I bought this, the pressure balancing unit (PBU) and after replacing both, there are no leaks and it works better than new. Kohler will say that this PBU is not the solution to a leaky shower head, but it was for me. Watch the Kohler installation video and buy both this PBU and the temperature regulator and you will be good as new. The parts change out quickly and easily with simple tools. This item is a gift for Christmas so I have not had the opportunity to use the paddles yet. They look very sturdy and well made. Each paddle is nicely wrapped in bubble wrap. The four balls that came with it are as nice as the higher end balls I have. The only problem is that this is a gift and the boxes are totally covered in a thick rust smelling liquid that has dried up all over the box.
