Depending on your decor and other pieces you could pull cooler or warmer—but it leans more toward cool. The sheen causes footprints to change how the rug appears, not in a messy way, it looks luxurious still—but head’s up in case you’re looking for a completely flat finish. The striations are visible when you’re up close and looking down on the rug. They aren’t noticeable when looking across the rug from a further distance. I think they add a nice dimension to this rug. It was hard something not overly patterned. It is soft, cleans up better than viscose rugs. We added a memory foam pad also from Wayfair, it makes it feel like a carpet from a modern luxury hotel..
