When Spanish explorers set out on trade missions to Asia from the new world of North America, they stored the gold in large iron boxes which were further enforced with interlaced metal straps and large complex locking mechanisms. Opening these locks required three separate keys, held by three separate people. The metal bands featured on the galleon mirrors were inspired by an iron box in the collections of the museum of international folk art.

I ordered this print and then was notified that I would not receive it because it was lost during shipping. So I ordered another one BUT the “lost “ original print was delivered to my home. I called customer service to cancel the print that I ordered the second time but they refused to cancel it! Now I have 2 of the exact same print.
