The pillow top feels softer on top, but there is still enough support underneath so you do not sink too far down. I slept on it one night myself before guests arrived and noticed it stayed cooler than our older foam mattress. My husband moves around a lot while sleeping, and I could still feel less movement transfer than expected. The edges also feel more stable when sitting down to put on shoes or fold laundry. One thing I noticed is that it does sit fairly tall once fully expanded, so deeper sheets fit better. So far it has made the guest room feel much more comfortable without feeling overly soft..
