The spout's melodic whistle alerts you to when your water is ready to serve. Depending on how much water is in the kettle and how long it’s been boiling, heat may transfer to the handle, especially with gas stoves. Please be sure the lid is tightly seated in place before heating. Gas stoves heat more of the kettle itself, allowing the heat to travel through the body of the kettle into the handle much quicker, eventually becoming too warm to grip without protection. Our new range was just delivered and installed. The burners will not auto ignite. We have been without a range that has a working oven for several months so the new unit is a welcome pleasure. It’s so pretty. I bought this months ago but my kitchen just was finished with renovation. I did get a sinkology grid for the bottom to help protect it. We’ve been using the sink for 2 weeks.
