I have only had the unit for a week but it came very well packaged and is very quiet compared to my last one. I did not screw anything into my windows as this is a temporary unit that I use for a few days throughout the year. The instructions were very simple and the unit is solid. I love being able to change the temperature and settings from my phone. I also appreciate how small the unit is compared to some of the other window models I have seen. I installed this unit in my vertical window and it works great. We used a piece of plywood to cover the rest of the window. The side extended panels and the insulated sheets you cut are a great idea. I'm really enjoying this so far. I've got it working with SmartThings which means it's working (okay) with Google Home. All five of my RF fans work with this device. I would say signal is sent to those devices correctly 95% of the time. I have found that if I accidentally misclick, it is better if I count to 10 before making the correct choice. Is it perfect? No. But it is extremely helpful. These are things I was ready for, but some other buyers might not be ready for. This is an RF controlling device. While it makes some devices a little easier to use it does not make those devices "smart". If you have someone who likes to use the remotes a lot, the app will show incorrect settings for those devices that have changed with the remote. This does not bug me, but for someone who is not ready for that, make sure you understand what this device is first. I highly recommend Bond. This is an affordable way to use what you already have. Less devices in the landfill for replacements, and a pretty great way to control my devices from my phone.
