It has just enough give in the padding on the very top so that you know you're not laying on " a board". I can only be comfortable being on firm mattresses and this is extremely helpful to my back and to my recovery for my hamstring. I wouldn't give this mattress up if God himself asked me for it. Our house has 25+ year old fixtures that honestly should have been replaced years ago. But what to install? Let the hunt begin. I had a fixture in a previous home nearly identical to these and when I saw them I KNEW these were the ones! They are extremely well packaged. In fact, it took a LOT to get the styrofoam packing to come out of the box. There were undamaged I am sure because of the great packaging. They are metal, and very decorative. The glass has bevels for extra details. The instructions are very straight forward. And they should be very easy to install. They also take a standard lightbulb. They appear well made. Very attractive... but 1 significant oddity; the finial shown at the top has an electrical-type screw-in attachment to lock to the top of the fixture to provide moisture security and finished looks. But the body of the light has NO corresponding screw receiver, therefore the finial just sits there... until it falls off.
