Those were key to making the couch look put together, otherwise there is a small gap between each section. It’s very cushy and comfortable - you won’t feel like you’re sinking in, but it’s not as hard as a rock like other wayfair couches I’ve experienced. You feel very cozy on this thing. Took me about 1.5 hrs to assemble by myself. Really impressive how everything was packed so well. Instructions were easy to follow. The cushion covers are removable. I am so happy I took a chance on this couch based on the ONE review picture someone uploaded, so I am adding more! Including one with my feet so you can see how long this is. This sectional is pretty great for the price in comparison with department store couches it ranks along with much more expensive sectionals. I would say the firmness is a medium firm. Not a super soft feel or not a cloud couch feel either. The chenille fabric is very good quality and the black is a true deep black not a charcoal like other brands models. I like the size and different configurations available. I also like that all the cushions have velcro to attach them in place. The rounded edges of the cushions give it a perfect relaxed feel. Omg this is a great sectional very sturdy super soft and light weight but somehow will not tip over the cushions zip off as well as all the outter layers on each piece for easy cleaning and it all attaches underneath so the pieces all stay together this is perfect for littles as there are no hard parts for them to hurt themselves on.. Pros very nice upholstery, great neutral color and texture, absolutely love the wood base to every piece, the pieces stay in place and don’t slide on our carpet, it’s high quality and heavy, the storage ottomans are super nice with really strong hardware, and I love the versatility of moving sections around. Cons the only thing really is that I wish the cushions were a little thickermore substantial. They have stayed a little bit lumpy since we set it up a week ago.
