We were so excited to install this exhaust fan in our kids’ bathroom! The fan itself is beautiful and feels very well made, and I was especially impressed by how carefully and securely everything was packaged. It arrived in perfect condition and definitely feels like a quality product. Unfortunately, once we got into the installation, we discovered it just isn’t going to work in our particular space. This unit is a little larger than a standard bathroom vent fan, which requires enlarging our existing ceiling opening. After removing the old fan, we found that the nearby air duct, vent, and electrical wiring make it impossible for us to safely enlarge the opening enough to accommodate the new unit. We’re genuinely disappointed we can’t use it because we were really looking forward to the upgraded features in our kids’ bathroom. This is not an issue with the product itself at all, just an unfortunate limitation of our existing construction. This is a nice fan!!! The description is not accurate, it has no light. It was not a surprise for me because I got a description from the Broan site using the fan's code AE50110DCS. I had AE50110DC and wanted to replace it with an automatic fan that turns on automatically when humidity is high and works for a specific period of time (it has a timer, a duration is up to 60 min). The fan allows the user to select a speed 50, 80 or 110 CFM. My previous fan (AE50110DC) had a permanent speed of 110. AE50110DCS at 110 makes the same level of noise as AE50110DC at 110. AE50110DCS at 80 is a little bit quieter, just a little bit. Therefore, I selected the speed 50 CFM which is really quiet for me. I set a humidity selector at 70% and a timer at 60 min. I know that for a 4PC bathroom the speed of 50 CFM is not enough but I keep a door to the bathroom open all the time and the fan will run for 60 minutes, then check humidity again and start a new 60-min cycle if humidity is above 70%. I guess it should be enough, time will show. I had a choice to buy a bigger Panasonic fan which is as quiet at 110 CFM as this fan at 50 CFM, but decided to use a fan with the same dimensions as my old one. I finally got around to installing this exhaust fan to replace one that was almost 30 years old and I’ve got to say that I was really impressed by how simple the process was. It utilizes quick connect wire connectors and a simple plug in light. It seems that it is really well made and looks great. The included remote control is easy to understand and paired with the unit quickly. The lighting options are really great as well especially the night light feature.
