easy to put together for the most part. the rails on the bottom are not secured. it comes with zip ties and they don't hold them in place. they flip to the side when in the pool which makes the steps lopsided until you flip it back out. definitely a design flaw. other than that they work, the steps themselves are sturdy.. This pool ladder is designed for above ground pools with 52in wall height. It comes with easily removable steps. The steps can be quickly detached and removed from the pool area when the pool is not in use. To replace the steps, simply set them in the base, then snap and lock them into place.

The ladder came in a box and was in perfect condition and packaged well. I only needed a screw driver to assemble it. I was able to do it myself in about 30 min. I do want to add that the instructions have both the 53 in and 48 in pool ladders. The 48 in will only have 3 steps on each side of ladder. I was struggling with this part until I looked back and realized it was only 3 steps. This ladder is very stable and is easy to remove and place the steps going into ladder. Be prepared for assembly. You'll need the following: spray dish soap for lubrication, a rubber mallet and a phillips-head screwdriver. Fortunately, it's only four screws, the rest is like putting together a Lego set. It just takes some serious pounding with the rubber mallet to get the pieces to go together, and I mean serious pounding. Just fair warning. The dish soap helps to get things going. This ladder is very sturdy, and although the directions were a bit hard to understand it wasn't hard to figure out the puzzle. Most of it is just sliding into place, although I had to drill pilot holes where the screw go (only 8 screws), and the bottom base blocks are supposed to click into pegs, but they didn't fit, even when trying to hammer them down. The handles can adjust to the height of the pool. You will need something for the other side of the pool if you have an above ground pool like we do.
