Painted just after the Franco-Prussian war, this allegory of foolish unpreparedness takes inspiration from Aesop's wise fable, "The Cicada and the Ant." The French artist's idyllically beautiful work was first exhibited at the 1872 Paris Salon and was seen as a critique of Napoleon III. The authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting's texture, depth of color, and even its brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. It is surrounded by an imported, antique gold-toned, delicately sculpted 4" wide designer resin frame with a leaf motif. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.

As the wine journeys through the curvaceous glass, it emits a gurgle: an aural reminder of the vigorous decanting due to its design. This piece is produced with clear crystal. This decanter is designed to hold a single bottle of wine. RIEDEL offers a wide range of elegant mouth-blown decanters, suitable for every lifestyle and price range. A functional and beautiful decanter is a must-have for wine lovers, and all RIEDEL decanters are made of fine crystal glass to honor quality wines with the treatment they deserve. Both old and young wines can benefit from decanting, whether to remove sediment or make them smoother and rounder. This product is handmade. Our master glassmakers individually craft each item so every piece has a unique character. Due to the nature of crafting, small tolerances in the size and weight of each product, tiny bubbles, imperfections, or slight surface variations are an acceptable part of the process. This item is dishwasher safe. The RIEDEL Bottle Cleaner cannot be used with this product as it can become lodged and unable to be removed. This pack contains a single piece. Kindly avoid overpouring the decanter. It's designed for specific fillings: 0.75L for regular, 1.5L for magnum, and 3L for double magnum.
